TEXT ON PICTURE:
KILLINEY - CILL INGENA LENIN. THE CHURCH OF THE DAUGHTERS OF LENIN - This name is a
corrupted form of Cill ingena Lenin, "Church of the Daughters of Lenin". Lenin, in the
6th century, had five daughters who embraced a religious life and settled on the hill named from their
church on the southern shore of Dublin Bay. The ruins of a small and very ancient church of early
Irish architecture are still to be seen there, with a cross in relief on the under side of the lintel
of its west door.
