RING-A-COLTIG - RINN-AN-COBHLACH. THE POINT OF THE FLEET - Ringacoltig, Rinn-an-Cobhlach,
"the point of the fleet" is the name given to the town-land in County Cork on which stands
the town of Rushbrooke. The Irish word Cobhlach means a fleet, and is applied to any collection of
boats fitted out for lake or river navigation, and as the sheltered waters of Ringacoltig have many
times harboured fleets of all descriptions, its name is certainly an appropriate one. At this place
travellers from Cork to Cobh (Queenstown) get their first view of the lower harbour of the last named
town.
