TEXT ON PICTURE:
RUSH - ROS-EO. THE PENINSULA OF THE YEW-TREES - The Irish word ros sometimes signifies "a
wooded promontory, or peninsula", in a lake, a bog or on the sea. Rush, north of Dublin, is
called by Irish authorities Ros-eo, from which the present name has been shortened. This seaport and
fishing townv is situated on a rocky peninsula of land almost surrounded by the sea, so that Ros-eo
signifies "the peninsula of the yew-trees".
